Release notes.

1.8.0 ·

A recap before you read on.

Your daily stack keeps each course's lessons together. When you return to a course, a Recap card shows what you've learned and where you left off. Choose when it appears under Daily stack in Settings.

New

  • Once you've read part of a fully written course, Recap first on its Up next card catches you up.
  • Pick Custom depth to go deep on the parts you care about and stay brief on the rest.

Improved

  • Each lesson ends with its place in the course, replacing the reader's progress line.
  • Unless you've changed Daily stack settings, your stack takes one course at a time.
  • Tapping a Library course with nothing to read opens its status, not a menu.

Fixed

  • A course page's header no longer stops half-collapsed after a short swipe.
  • A Preview cancelled or changed once it reads a video stays charged, not released.
  • Security fixes.

1.7.0 ·

Explore puts your interests first.

Tell Sophia what you're into in Settings, under Interests, and Explore stops ordering its courses by date or popularity alone. A For you section leads with the courses that match, and ones you say you'd rather skip sink to the end.

New

  • Learn from my courses, on by default, lets Explore also match courses like the ones you make.

Improved

  • Explore's top course favours your interests and courses not in your library.
  • Diagrams in new lessons have serif labels and no "diagram" caption underneath.
  • Each card in your daily stack names the course it comes from.
  • While a course is being written, its ring also shows the lessons you've read.
  • On paid plans, set narration speed from the player while you listen.

Fixed

  • A bold lead-in in a lesson no longer runs into the sentence after it.
  • Security fixes.

1.6.0 ·

Start reading before the course is finished.

Open a course as soon as its first lesson is written and read on while Sophia writes the rest, instead of waiting for the whole course. Listen and Chat wait until the course is ready.

New

  • New course may ask up to two optional questions about a vague request; the check can delay planning.
  • Set Depth in New course to Overview for a shorter course or Thorough for a longer one.

Improved

  • Sophia fact-checks each new lesson and corrects errors it confirms.
  • Usage in Settings lists what courses and narration used; costs no longer show upfront.
  • Diagrams of real-world mechanisms are drawn more accurately; a self-contradicting one is left out.
  • When Apple reverses a subscription, your top-up credits go towards the balance it leaves.

Fixed

  • Courses saved from Explore, and some others, no longer vanish from Read next.
  • Security fixes.

1.5.0 ·

Finish a card and put it away.

Read a lesson to the end and keep pulling up: the card lifts off and the next one waits underneath. Each lesson becomes something you finish and put away, not a feed that scrolls past. The course reader and your daily stack both work this way.

New

  • A line along the reader's top bar shows where you are in the course and how much you have read.
  • Lesson narration now comes with every paid plan, not only Pro and Max, and uses credits.

Improved

  • The next cards peek out below the one you are reading.
  • Ask Sophia appears once a course is ready, not failing while it generates.

Fixed

  • Tapping Play with no credits no longer does nothing visible; it says why.
  • After a refund, the course page says access was revoked, not "Course not found."
  • Chat on a revoked course says it is unavailable, not a server error.
  • Narration on a second device no longer fails while the first prepares it.

1.4.0 ·

Mid-cycle upgrades add the difference in credits.

When you move to a higher plan inside your current billing period, you get the difference between the two plans' monthly credits. The App Store already returns the unused part of your old plan's price, so full credits let a step-by-step upgrade collect more than buying the higher plan outright. The confirmation before you buy shows the credits you get, and how credits work is on the FAQ.

Fixed

  • A mid-cycle upgrade adds the monthly credit difference, not the new plan's full credits.

1.3.0 ·

Lighter, rounder icons across the app.

The icons on Sophia's tabs, buttons, and menus are redrawn with a thinner, rounded line. The heavier geometric set they replace made Sophia look like a stock app.

Improved

  • Chat holds your question at the top while the answer streams in below.
  • Chat's lesson links show the course icon and lesson number, not the full title.

Fixed

  • The Chat message box no longer jumps between one and two lines.
  • Lesson links on a chat answer's first line no longer clip at the top.

1.2.0 ·

A larger free grant for new accounts.

New accounts start with a larger one-time free grant. The old grant could fall short of a first course built from a video or PDF, and that course would not start.

New

  • An empty Chat thread offers starter questions for the lesson or course you are asking about.

Improved

  • Read next on Home suggests your own courses, not Explore's.
  • With no course ready or generating, Home offers Browse Explore beside Create a course.
  • The Up next card on a course page captions its read and listen buttons.

Fixed

  • An ended plan no longer shows as current, so you can subscribe again.
  • Generate after Stop generating reserves new credits and no longer fails to write lessons.
  • Security fixes.

1.1.1 ·

Find your new course right after adding it.

After Add course, Sophia opens the course page if you previewed its outline, or the Queue in your library while the course is still being planned. A new course no longer drops to the bottom of the Queue with nothing pointing at it.

New

  • Pause narration from the listen button on a course's Up next card or in your daily stack.
  • While a lesson's audio is preparing, press stop to cancel the wait.
  • The menu on a course page can archive, delete, or stop generating the course, when its state allows.

Improved

  • Narration is slower and easier to follow, after a one-time wait on played lessons.
  • Course icons Sophia draws for new courses use a thin-line cartoon style.

Fixed

  • Once added, a course with enough credits shows Preparing, not a vanishing Generate button.
  • A course saved from Explore no longer offers Request refund or Report a problem.
  • Play and pause no longer flip back for a moment after you tap them.

1.1.0 ·

Listen to your lessons on Pro and Max.

Sophia reads each lesson aloud from a script written to be heard, then moves on to the next. Equations are said and explained, and a lesson you finish by ear counts as read. The first listen to each lesson uses credits; replays are free.

New

  • On Pro and Max, listen to your daily stack from Home, lesson after lesson.

Improved

  • Courses added in the app start generating at once when your credits cover them.
  • A new look across every screen, with new typefaces and a quieter palette.
  • Home suggests courses under Read next, from your library first, then Explore.
  • A course page lists every lesson at once, not inside folded sections.
  • Plus and Plus top-ups give more credits; Max and Max top-ups give fewer.
  • Long videos are charged for the part used; unmeasurable files are no longer free.

Fixed

  • Security fixes.

New courses build lesson on lesson.

Sophia writes the lessons in each section in order, and each one sees the examples and terms the lesson before it used. A new course reads as one course rather than a set of disconnected lessons, though it takes longer to generate.

New

  • Your AI assistant can revise or delete a course before it generates; each revision previews the curriculum again, using credits.

Improved

  • Lessons use shorter sentences and introduce fewer new terms at once.
  • Lesson cards have a lighter background, without the brown tint.
  • A course your credits cannot cover shows why on its page, without expanding anything.

Fixed

  • Detailed course requests no longer lose the focus areas and exclusions you listed.
  • Chat shows a waiting line, or says Sophia couldn't answer, not an empty box.
  • A course stuck on credits no longer looks like one waiting its turn.

0.1.0 ·

Learn what you have been meaning to learn.

The first release of Sophia. Name a topic, or attach a file or link, and Sophia plans a course of short lessons you read as cards, drawing on your sources and the open web as it writes. Planning and writing a course use credits: you see the cost before you start, and a course you start is written to the end.

New

  • Attach a PDF, image, or text file, or paste a link, and Sophia builds the course from it.
  • Lessons can include charts, timelines, tables, and diagrams alongside the text.
  • Ask Sophia about a course, or the lesson you're reading, in chat.
  • Once a course is ready, Home offers a short daily session of cards from your courses.
  • Send Sophia a topic or source by email or from your AI assistant, once it is on in Settings.
  • New accounts with a verified email get free credits once; Basic, Plus, Pro, and Max plans add more.
