Integrations
Two ways to hand Sophia something to learn without opening the app: from an AI assistant, or by email. Either way the course lands in your library as a plan, and nothing is written until you say go.
AI assistants
Sophia is an MCP server. Once connected, your assistant can check what you already know, plan a course, and keep reshaping the plan as your conversation goes on. When it looks right, tell the assistant to go ahead and Sophia writes the lessons.
Setup
- In the Sophia app, open Settings → Integrations and switch on “Manage courses through MCP”.
- Add Sophia to your assistant. Pick yours:
Web and desktop app.
- Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- Paste this address and choose Add.
https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcp
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner enables it first under Organization settings → Connectors. The desktop app uses the same Connectors screen, not
claude_desktop_config.json.To build a course from a file you give Claude, turn on code execution and add
mcp.sophia.bytexy.comto the allowed domains, both under Settings → Capabilities. Without them Claude can’t send the file to Sophia.claude mcp add --transport http sophia https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcpThen run
/mcpinside Claude Code to sign in.Install in CursorOne click. Cursor opens and asks you to confirm, then to sign in.
Or add it by hand:
- Open Cursor Settings → MCP → Add new MCP server.
- Set the type to URL and paste this address.
https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcp - If the server shows “Needs login”, click it to sign in.
Install in VS CodeOne click. VS Code opens and asks you to confirm, then to sign in.
Or add it by hand:
- Open the Command Palette and run “MCP: Add Server”.
- Choose HTTP and paste this address.
https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcp
The same thing in
mcp.json:{ "servers": { "sophia": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcp" } } }Needs Copilot Chat in Agent mode.
codex mcp add sophia --url https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcp codex mcp login sophiagemini mcp add --transport http sophia https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcpSign-in opens in the browser on first use. If it does not, run
/mcp auth sophiainside the CLI.- Open Settings → Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- Go to Settings → Connectors → Create. Name it Sophia, paste this address, and choose Create.
https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcp
Needs a paid plan (Plus, Pro, Team, or Enterprise). On Team or Enterprise an admin may need to allow custom connectors first.
Open Settings → Cascade → MCP Servers → Add server and paste this address.
https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcpOr add it to
~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json:{ "mcpServers": { "sophia": { "serverUrl": "https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcp" } } }Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers works. Add a server with the HTTP transport and this address. No key or header is needed; it signs you in through the browser.
https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcpIn a config file it usually looks like this. Some clients name the keys differently.
{ "mcpServers": { "sophia": { "url": "https://mcp.sophia.bytexy.com/mcp" } } } - The assistant opens a sign-in page. Use the same Apple or Google account you use in the app.
Troubleshooting
- The assistant says the integration is turned off. Check the switch under Settings → Integrations in the app. If it is already on, you signed in with a different account than the one in the app. Remove the connection in your assistant, add it again, and sign in with the same Apple or Google account.
- The assistant says its access was revoked. It was revoked in the app. Open Settings → Integrations, find it under Connections, and tap Allow again.
- The assistant made a course but it has no lessons. That is the plan, not the course. It stays open so the assistant can keep changing it as you talk: add a topic, drop one, go deeper. When it looks right, tell the assistant to go ahead, or open the course in the app and start it there.
Turning the switch off in the app cuts access for every connected assistant. To see which assistants have used Sophia, or revoke just one, check Connections on the same screen.
Email Sophia a topic, a link, a file, or a forwarded newsletter and it plans a course from what you sent. No setup beyond a switch in the app.
Setup
- In the Sophia app, open Settings → Integrations and switch on “Create courses by email”.
- From the email address on your Sophia account, write to this address. The subject and the body are the request, so say what you want to learn. Links in the body and attached files are read as sources.
learn.nospam@sophia.bytexy.com - Sophia replies to confirm it got the request. A minute or so later the course shows up as Queued in your library; open it to check the plan and generate the lessons.
Ten requests a day; Sophia writes back if you hit the limit or the request fails. Settings → Integrations → Confirmation email turns off every reply, including those.
Troubleshooting
- No reply and no course. Sophia only takes mail from the address on your Sophia account and drops everything else without answering. Check the switch in the app, then the address you sent from. If you signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, the address on your account is Apple’s relay address, not your own, so mail from your own address is dropped.
- A file was skipped. Sophia reads attached PDFs, images, and text files up to 16 MB, ten per email, and the reply names any file it skipped. Save a Word document or slide deck as a PDF first. Small images in the message, like signature logos, are ignored.
- The course has no lessons. Same as with an assistant: that is the plan, waiting for you. Open the course in the app, check it, and generate it there.
